Design console

The Flowgear Console is web-based and requires no software to be installed.

Drag and drop design console

The Console provides the means for integrators to design and manage solutions including Workflows, Data Connections, DropPoints and Nodes as well as the ability to review activity history.

  • Create complex integration workflows using a rich visual design console
  • Start creating integration processes immediately
  • For end-users, Workflows to be run on-demand or enabled for AutoStart. Selected high-level activity information is also presented to end-users.

Provides agile integration by coupling design and execution, giving integrators the benefit of much shorter test cycles, and enables an iterative development approach.

Workflows

Flowgears integration solutions are designed as workflows. A workflow is a visual representation of an integration task that is composed of a series of steps called nodes.

Nodes include a set of properties relevant to the task they perform

In contrast to other platforms, the properties are visible on the Console’s design canvas at all times, providing a richer overall picture of the integration. This feature also permits data flows and execution flows to be mapped visually.

  • Connectors are wrappers around third party products or API’s that provide abstraction and allow Flowgear to engage with the endpoint

  • Processors act on data (usually in-memory) to perform operations such as transformation, reduction and mapping

  • Triggers wait for a condition to be met before execution continues and are part of the Workflow design. Some triggers are time-based, others are based on external events (for example changes in a database)

  • Flow Control includes conventional flow control constructs such as error handling, branching and conditional evaluation

  • See help Article: Nodes you should know

Workflow example: How to Extract data from a SQL database.

QuickMap visual data mapper

QuickMap is Flowgear’s Visual Data Mapper, supporting visual hierarchical mapping, functions and filtering.
QuickMap Properties

Provides a way to map a document into a desired form by providing visual hierarchical mapping and rich function-based field manipulation. Both JSON and XML document types are supported. Read more

This article contains the list of functions currently supported by QuickMap. Most of these functions are identical with or similar to Excel so that they’re as familiar as possible. Read more

See how Flowgear’s QuickMap visual data mapper makes it easier to build sophisticated integrations without requiring coding or technical scripting.

DropPoints

DropPoints are software agents that enable the Flowgear cloud to access on-premise data sources.

Installation & Registration

You can download a DropPoint from the DropPoints pane in the Flowgear Console by clicking the ‘+’ icon. Use the 64bit installer unless the connector that you need to route through the DropPoint specifically advises that you use 32bit. Read more

Flowgear ensures that data transmitted via a DropPoint is:

  • compressed – because the data is typically text (or XML or JSON), a 10:1 ratio is common
  • encrypted – DropPoints ensure security by using WebSockets and HTTPS for communication
  • recoverable – data transport uses application-level transaction chunking and packet acknowledgement to enable recovery of data when Internet connectivity has been disrupted. Read more

See how DropPoints seamlessley enable Flowgear to access data sources that are not exposed to the Internet.

Should you build or buy a software integration solution?

By using the Flowgear integration platform, businesses can focus on the systems that are critical for internal and customer success and leave all the complex integration and automation issues to us!

What developers should consider

Modern Organisations depend heavily on an increasing array of apps, systems and services to operate efficiently and grow their businesses but sharing data between them is one of the biggest challenges facing IT today.

Hand-coded, point-to-point integrations are expensive to implement, non-sustainable and uneconomical to maintain, while the traditional Enterprise Service Bus-approach requires substantial up-front planning and results in an inflexible solution.

Flowgear’s internationally renowned platform enables organisations of all sizes to build powerful Application, Data and API integrations whether they’re in the Cloud or on-premise, all from a single interface.

By buying an integration solution rather than building, you as the developer enable greater interoperability between legacy systems and new digital technologies, and enable the organization to implement component-oriented solutions rather than monolithic ones.

The business IT landscape is changing and becoming more distributed, so you need to have an integration solution that is adaptable; hand coded systems usually are written for a limited scope of work and don’t lend themselves to quick reliable changes.

By investing in an integration solution you are driving business value by providing opportunities for the business to change more quickly.

The integration of the systems enables the process to work faster without errors, which is essentially table stakes these days.

Do you need to integrate with your internal, suppliers or customer systems?

We are thrilled to extend our deepest gratitude to all who contributed to the monumental success of Flowgear Sync 2024, pioneering integration and automation conference.

It was an absolute pleasure meeting face-to-face with our incredible customers and partners to discuss how businesses around the world are harnessing the power of platform-based integration to create efficient processes.
